IDroofrailtrimclean

DSs and IDs have quite a lot of white (or pale grey) ribbed rubber trims and moldings which can look very grubby - even on very good cars. A combination of the effects of damp, cigarette smoke etc. always takes its toll over a period of many years.

These trims include the thick roof rail molding (see above), the split 'piping' which runs parallel to the door seals, and the insert in the stainless steel sill trims.

I discovered thay they normally respond very well to being carefully scrubbed along the ribs. I used a combination of warm water with a little detergent and a fairly worn (pre-used) Spong pan scourer. I didn't want to use a new one for fear of it being too 'sharp', but the rubber is probably much tougher than it seems. The door seal piping has to be scrubbed in situ (so it's best to do this when all other trim is out of the car), but the others can be cleaned at the kitchen sink.

As you can see the difference before and after makes it very worthwhile.
