Rear parcel shelf. The fact that the rear window is so easy to remove makes working in this area comparatively straightforward.

Because the metal rear shelf panel is ribbed for strength (although quite thin steel), I decided to cut a flat panel from millboard; so that my green Hardura covering would stay looking tidy - quite important when you consider all this is viewed so clearly through the huge rear window. And the sound from radio speakers benefits from being mounted in a less 'tinny' panel.

The slots towards the front are for the inertia belts - the reels are mounted on a specially made cross-bracket (under the shelf) which is bolted though the inner wings. Where the two inboard holes can be seen on the panel, this cross bracket also carries two lugs - one of which is used to mount a central (non-inertia) seat belt. This means 5 people can travel in comparative safety.

The same cross-bracket also forms a solid mounting for two rear head restraints. See separate picture of the bracket.
