The rear window frame (like the roof frame) was very sound and required no more than a rub-down and repaint.

This area is much easier to inspect, because by simply removing the two clamp plates at the base of the glass, the rear window drops out of its seal. Re-fitting is trickier (although not too bad with an extra pair of hands).

The wires are for the rear indicators which are housed in the "trompettes' (made from very delicate plastic on French IDs, but normally stainless steel) which mount to the rear corners of the roof.

The delicate fibreglass roof panel can be seen tucked out of harm's way, up on top of the spray booth in the background.
