These two photos show what was probably the most important part of the restoration. The chassis side boxes were not beyond patch-repairing, but Graham Morton had already taken the decision to completely replace almost all the metal in these structurally critical areas with high-quality repair sections. A small amount of the floor inboard of the chassis was also replaced. New (non-structural) outer sills were also fitted. The (access) value of using the single-poster hoist can be clearly seen here, and the fact that the car has been lifted on the original floor demonstrates how sound this area was. | ||||
